Terms and Conditions
Please read through the terms and conditions that apply to the accommodation, pre-bookable packages and promotions. You will be asked to accept these terms and conditions and confirm that you have read and understood them before you complete your booking.
- Room Prices
- Room prices are per room, per night inclusive of breakfast and are inclusive of VAT.
- All other items, meals and drinks must be paid for prior to check-out.
- The Marquis reserves the right to review its prices at any time. You will pay the price as quoted at the point of booking.
- Note that quoted prices may change at any time up to the date of arrival. For details of our most current prices please check our website.
- Payment
- The Marquis accepts payments by cash, credit or debit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Maestro, Electron). We do not accept cheques or Union Cards.
- All Guests are required to provide the card used when making the booking and identification upon check-in. Acceptable forms of ID are: current driving license, ID card or passport.
- Bookings
- Bookings must be reserved with a valid credit or debit card and payment taken in full at the time of the booking. The credit or debit card used at time of booking must be presented at check-in to validate the booking. If payment is being made by a third party we must have a valid third party authorization form completed and presented prior to booking confirmation.
- Credit or debit cards which are unable to be charged will result in the reservation being null and void.
- If a booking is not cancelled and the guest(s) does not arrive this is deemed as a No Show. The total cost for the accommodation would still be applicable.
- In the event of an early departure guests will be charged for the total price of the reservation.
- Amendments or transfers are not permitted.
- Guests who arrive at The Marquis without a reservation are deemed as Walk Ins. The full payment for your stay is due on arrival.
- All persons from the age of 13 and above would be charged at £60.00 supplement per room per night.
- Cancellations (standard bookings)
- Cancellations made more than 2 days prior to arrival will incur no charge and any deposit paid will be refunded.
- Cancellations made less than 2 days prior to arrival date will be charged the total cost of the stay (unless due to government guidelines).
- In the event of an early departure, or no show, guests will be charged for the total price of the reservation (unless due to government guidelines)
- Advance Purchase Rate Bookings, Terms and Conditions
- All bookings and associated packages will be charged in full between the time of booking and the morning of your arrival.
- All bookings and packages are non-refundable and cannot be amended or cancelled without the full charge being incurred.
- The credit or debit card used at time of booking must be presented at check-in to validate the booking. If payment is being made by a third party we must have a valid third party authorization form completed and present at check-in. Please contact our Room Reservations Team for more details.
- In the event of an early departure guests will be charged for the total price of the reservation.
- Credit or debit cards that are unable to be charged will result in the reservation being null and void.
- If guests do not arrive this is deemed as a No Show. The total cost for the accommodation would still be applicable.
- Arrivals and Departures
- Check In time is from 15:00 until 20:00 on the day of arrival. Please let The Marquis know if you intend to arrive after 20:00.
- Check Out time is up until 11:00 on the day of Departure. If you depart after this time late check-out fees would apply starting from £35.00.
- Early Check-in would depend on occupancy and rates apply.
- Particular Requirements
- Children are classed as such up to the age of 5 and stay free of charge. Between 6-12 years of age a £30.00 supplement per room per night. Identification would be required upon arrival.
- All our Rooms and Suites sleep 2 containing 1 Super King Bed. The layout of our rooms is described when booking.
- The layout of a twin room may vary from room to room. Please refer to the room type description when booking.
- All rooms are accessible by stairs only.
- The Cornwallis Suite (King Suite with Balcony) and Valley Suite (Junior Suite with Balcony) are situated in the building adjacent to the Hotel.
- All of our rooms and suites operate a 100% no smoking policy throughout. Smoking in a bedroom or anywhere else inside the premises will result in a £250 fine.
- The Marquis will make every possible effort to ensure that our guests' requirements are met, however all rooms are subject to availability. We apologise in advance if your particular requirements cannot be met.
- Please note on-site parking is available and is free of charge, however subject to availability.
- Breakfast
- Breakfast is served in the restaurant between 08:00 and 11:00 weekdays and between 08:30 and 11:30 on Bank Holidays. Please note breakfast times may differ depending on occupancy and season.
- Restaurant and Bar
- The restaurant serves contemporary dishes. Operating hours Monday – Saturday 08:00 to 23:00, Sundays 08:00 to 20:00. Bar operates 12:00 to 23:00 and serves a lunch menu between 12:00 to 15:00 and bar snacks throughout. Sunday lunches are served between 12:00 – 18:00.
- Guest Consideration
- We would like to ensure that all our guests' stay is peaceful and enjoyable. We politely ask all our guests to respect each other. We may ask you and/or any member of your party to leave immediately if your/their conduct is considered by us to be inappropriate, likely to cause harm or discomfort to other guests, us or our staff, or is likely to breach this term/policy. No refunds will be given in these circumstances. We have the right either during or after your stay to recover from you the costs of any of the following: any compensation we may pay to others due to the misconduct, including our guests; any property or accommodation damage; any other charges, fees, or levies we may incur resulting from your action or inaction and from any breach of this policy. Please note that by staying with us you agree to abide by the terms of this policy.
- Non-Smoking Policy
- All of our Rooms operate a 100% no smoking policy throughout. Smoking in a bedroom or anywhere else inside the premises will result in a £250.00 fine.
- General terms and conditions
- We regret that, with the exception of assistance dogs, no pets are allowed into The Marquis.
- Reservations for rooms are nontransferable and must not, under any circumstances, be sold or otherwise transferred to a third party who is not a member of your group.
- You must not advertise, market or otherwise offer any of The Marquis accommodation for sale either on its own or as part of a combined offer.
- Prices include VAT. All prices and details are correct at the time of publishing and are subject to change without prior notice.
- The Marquis does not accept liability for any failure to provide services contracted due to circumstances beyond our control including industrial action, postal communication, plant failures, supply of gas, electricity and water or fire alarm evacuation.
- Group Bookings
A booking of five rooms (room nights) or more is considered a group booking within The Marquis. If a group of individuals have booked separately for e.g. weddings, parties, then The Marquis reserves the right to enforce Group terms and conditions to those bookings regardless of the booking channel used to book.- Confirming group bookings
- All group bookings can be booked with a non-refundable 50% deposit, payable upon making the booking. For each group booking, The Marquis will require a contract to be entered into that sets out the terms of the options and booking conditions. Full payment would be required 14 days prior to arrival.
- Bookings will be reserved with a valid credit or debit card. The credit or debit card used at time of booking must be presented at check-in to validate the booking.
- If payment is being made by a third party we must have a valid third party authorisation form completed and presented prior to booking confirmation.
- Credit or debit cards which are unable to be charged will result in the reservation being null and void.
- Cancellations and refunds are not permissible.
- Amendments are not permissible.
- If a booking is not cancelled and the guest(s) does not arrive this is deemed as a No Show. The total cost for the accommodation would still be applicable.
- In the event of an early departure guests will be charged for the total price of the reservation.
- Making a group booking

- You are responsible for any damages caused to the allocated rooms or the furnishings of The Marquis. If any act, default or neglect by the guests or organisers results in damage or complaints from other guests, the customer shall be liable to pay to The Marquis on demand the amount required to make good or remedy such damage.
- In the event of willful or negligent interruption to the business or other customers, The Marquis will charge the amount of any loss to the Customer and terminate the contract. The Marquis will not be liable for any refund or compensation in such circumstances.
- The contract means the agreement between The Marquis and the customer for a specific booking or series of bookings. This contract applies to The Marquis and the Customer and no payment will be made to any third parties.
- The Marquis reserves the right to cancel the Customer's reservation without further notice if there is a breach of these Terms and Conditions.
- The Marquis does not accept liability for any failure to provide services contracted due to circumstances beyond our control including industrial action, postal communication, plant failures, supply of gas, electricity and water or fire alarm evacuation
- The details of these Terms and Conditions do not remove the common law duty to mitigate losses.
